I have little to say about this other than
the rear springs came off relatively easily even though
I had to grind the rusty threads off a particularly long
top bolt that a nut refused to turn over. The bushes were
fine and minimal rust was coated with a nice dollop of spray
under-seal. When re-assembled the rear was a good 1 1/2"
higher than it was but still not enough to level the car
but after a 10 mile run things looked a lot better.

I guess even this short run was enough to
settle the front a little.
Overall the spring project has reduced that
awful sickening crunch when a pothole is hit and the whole
car is a lot easier and more comfortable to drive. Pot holes
and road humps no longer bring fear to me and the only negative
point is I think the kerbside trunion is done for, or is
that a good thing, to find out now. It seems that when I
have been greasing these the nipple is so worn and small
the grease has been oozing out the junction and not through
the trunion. |
